A novel -- now novella -- in progress: How I'm writing Scribbles From Space
What started as a novel will now be a short story and included in a sci-fi anthology
Scribbles From Space — originally titled Scribbles from Earth — was a novel in progress, but has morphed into a novella that may be included in a sci-fi anthology of short stories—along with those of other Florida writers.
I began writing Scribbles online here on Substack, episode-by-episode, so I could share the creative process in real time as the words came flying off my keyboard.
Accompanying this article is a video that captured a bit of that.
Now Scribbles is largely done, but shorter than originally envisioned. It will be published as a 14,000-word novella/short story.
You can read more about that on Scribbles’ own Substack page: ScribblesFromSpace.Substack.com
While I was writing the first draft of the story, several readers joined in with encouragement and suggestions, and for that I am deeply appreciative. It was a lot of fun, this experimental posting of raw copy online in real time as the ideas poured out.
Thanks to those of you who followed along. I’ll keep you posted when we have a firm publication date for the anthology.
Cheers.
