Today marks the beginning of the annual Festival of Unmentionable Thoughts, a time to embrace all the zaniness that goes on between our ears. Why? Because it is there that some of our greatest ideas emerge.
Albert Einstein, for instance, came up with his Special Theory of Relativity while daydreaming about trains and lightning.
Now, that’s Einstein. Your musings might be different. And, most likely, you’d be smart to keep them to yourself, thank you very much.
But the point is that creativity emerges from that bag of cats we call a mind. And we shouldn’t be embarrassed about it.
As for our imaginations, Maya Angelou noted: “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

This is one of the subjects I discuss in my latest Essential News column in Florida Weekly. It’s your guide to all the essential events in the coming seven days, and as a subscriber to JCBruce.com you get this notice as soon as copies of the newspaper roll off the presses.
Other topics include:
National Cocoa Day.
National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.
National Underdog Day.
And Saturnalia, the ancient Roman holiday that eventually morphed into Christmas.
Oh, and there’s also a delightful story about a Florida Man who literally sneezed his guts out.
All this and more here:
