Why do we torture ourselves with New Year's resolutions? It's ancient history
Read on and be the smartest person in the room -- or the Zoom!
New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, so it’s time to start preparing our resolutions for 2025.
Why do we do this to ourselves every year?
Ask psychiatrists and they may tell you it’s because you were traumatized as a child, have low self-esteem and feel the need to punish yourself.
Which is why we certainly won’t ask any shrinks about this.
Instead, my latest Essential News column in Florida Weekly has the history behind why we do this to ourselves. Also, some helpful hints on how to be more successful in making — and keeping — your New Year’s resolutions.
Also in this latest installment you can learn more about National Bacon Day, National Fruitcake Day (yes, fruitcakes are darn-near immortal), and some nifty trivia you can use to impress your friends regarding that ball-drop in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
Subscribers get first notice as each installment of my Florida Weekly column rolls off the presses. Thanks for reading.
